This winter has been such a blessing here in Cutchogue. The past few winters had really created challenges for us with completing all of our vineyard tasks. The warmer temperatures this year have allowed the vineyard crew to be much more productive, and the lack of snow has enhanced their confort while working. Pruning has already been completed and we are almost finished replacing all of the vineyard posts that were damaged by the huricane. Our Vine to Wine Members shared in an educational pruning class for the past two weekends with perfect weather again and perfect wood fired pizza to complement. For an introduction to the North Fork wine experience you can always contact us at (info@sanninovineyard.com)

During winter through early spring before a vine starts to draw its sap back up into its branches and swells its buds is when we prune our vines. This is the dormant time for the grape vine.
- This summer visitors and locals can join in the North Fork Bed & Breakfast Association’s (NFBBA) celebration of Tourism and Agriculture on the North Fork of Long Island on Saturday, July 16, 2011 by taking a tour of the NFBBA’s bed and breakfasts, gardens and vineyards, visiting Cornell Cooperative Extension’s remarkable gardens, meeting local farmers showcasing their produce at the B&Bs, dining at their choice of fine local restaurants, and dancing the night away to Trevor Davidson Music at Martha Clara Vineyard.

The all day long event begins with a tour of the gardens at Cornell and the homes and gardens of six members of the NFBBA. At each B&B, the visitor can meet a local farmer, vintner, or food producer. Cornell’s garden tour is from 11AM to 1:30PM. Then, it’s on to dessert and dancing to Trevor Davidson Music at Martha Clara Vineyard from 7:15PM to 10:30PM.

To participate in one, or all, of the Summer Events, visit the NFBBA’s website (www.nfbba.org ) where tickets are on sale starting May 13th. The NFBBA is donating part of the profits of the summer event to Cornell Cooperative Extension which supports gardening and agriculture on the Long Island, New York.

The Summer Event is part of the NFBBA’s longstanding commitment to strengthen businesses on the North Fork supporting agriculture and tourism, and at the same time, welcoming both neighbors and tourists to enjoy some of the delights the East End has to offer year round.

For over twenty years, the NFBBA has been partnering and supporting local businesses and services involved in the hospitality sector while ensuring a high standard of accommodation and helping to increase the number of tourists/visitors to the North Fork. The association has launched numerous promotions with local businesses and charitable groups. During 2011, several special events are planned, including the Summer Event, and the NFBBA’s Annual Holiday House Tour, on December 3rd.

The North Fork Bed & Breakfast Association (NFBBA) officially represents the bed and breakfasts on the North Fork to the many commercial and promotional organizations on Long Island and in New York State.
